A champion cyber-fighter who fuses with a fire-based lion-leopard hybrid Cyber.Beast, giving him both strength and speed (in short bursts). Impulsive and mistrustful, but fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares about. Despite holding the rank of Chief, he still fights at every opportunity to defend his #1 ranking.

Visual Description

Kyshumu is a tall, dark-skinned, muscular humanoid with a wild crimson-red lion's mane of hair and a sleek armored visor/helm framing his face, often shown mid-roar. His body is encased in a segmented armored bodysuit with glowing energy lines tracing the limbs and torso. He has a long vertebrae-like armored tail and digitigrade, clawed/padded feet (cat-like). His signature combat visual is fire erupting from his hands and forearms.

His pose is consistently feline and explosive — crouched, coiled, and pouncing, as if leaping into an attack.

Color/design status (per author): The armor color was undecided between all-white and all-black; the author leaned black at times but ultimately moved toward mostly white (see Design Evolution). The redesign also aged him up and made him taller — roughly 7 heads tall, 3 heads wide at the shoulders.

"BurstDrive" Mode (CONFIRMED CANON)

The author's writing confirms Kyshumu goes into burst drive mode when he fights: he pounces into action and lets out a glass-shattering battle cry, drawing on the lion-leopard Cyber.Beast he synergizes with.

This confirms BurstDrive is a canonical combat transformation for Cybervators generally (also seen on Sparky Nystrom and Minia), not a one-off. The "burst" aspect fits Kyshumu literally — he generates power in short bursts rather than sustained output.

Powers & Fighting Style

• Cyber.Beast: a fire-based lion-leopard hybrid (started as a leopard; the lion was added later — see Background).
• Primary ability — Strength (power-type), combined with his fire element to generate power in short bursts.
• Burst acceleration / jumping: by channeling power in short bursts he can, for brief periods, move as fast as speed-type Cybervators and jump as high as flying-type Cybervators can fly.
• Pounce mechanic: he crouches like a cat and pounces when he leaps or attacks, but must charge before each short-burst pounce — a built-in trade-off to the burst power.
• Battle cry: a glass-shattering roar when entering BurstDrive.

Design intent — "the anomaly": The author intends Kyshumu to be an anomaly within the type system. The current lean is that he has a black-type (power-based) Cyber.Beast yet achieves speed-type-level mobility through burst acceleration — i.e., enormous strength and great speed despite the type that "should" limit one of them. (An earlier framing flipped this: a speed-based beast with anomalous strength.) Confirm final direction with the author.

Personality & Background

• Role: Chief of the ReNet Network; #1 ranked Cybervator.
• Personality: Impulsive and mistrustful, but loyal and protective toward those he cares about. Competitive — keeps fighting to retain his #1 rank even though his rank as Chief doesn't require it.
• Cyber.Beast origin: Began with only a leopard Cyber.Beast. His wife, Tomasina, gave him a lion Cyber.Beast as a courting gift. He now fights with the fused lion-leopard hybrid.

Design Evolution (author's process notes)

• Earliest version: experimented with a black-type Cyber.Beast and black armor instead of white (kyshumu_early_version.jpg).
• Redesign (years later): aged him up and made him taller; reset proportions to ~7 heads tall, 3 heads wide. A "happy accident" while fixing the gauntlet perspective produced a better gauntlet design. Reduced the supersaturated red (removed some from the chest; added vertebrae-like tail armor to cut its visibility).
• Armor color: explored both all-white and all-black. Settled toward mostly white — because in this world a Cybervator can fuse with two Cyber.Beast types (black + white), and leaving black in the armor could wrongly imply he's using both types.
